When I was little I always wanted a baby sister, my brothers were fun but they could be annoying. I can't count how many times i begged my mum for one, she would bribe me and say that she was my sister.
Of course i didn't agree, nobody was going to bamboozle me. But something made me stop wanting a sister. My dad used to call me "Only princess", every time and I would think that if i had another sister i would now be "princess".
So i accepted my mum as my sister and consoled myself that God had given me many sisters in school.
I remember in secondary school if you never got a gift on Valentine's day, they'd say you roasted. I never did, my dad always sent me a gift every Valentine's day since i was in primary school
All my friends from boarding school know how he'd pop up in school with a pack of sweets and food and we'd talk. So let's say today is Dad Appreciation Day.
When i was in Junior School i was really playful and carefree, my notes weren't complete and by the time i was in Jss3 i had lost all my Jss1 and Jss2 notes so i didn't have anything to read for my Junior Waec.
My dad asked me to get all the notes for all my subjects from JSS1 and JSS2 and he copied every single one. I can still remember his long handwriting in my business studies note.
Then he'd sit with me and go over them with me. Sometimes after I had read, he would ask me questions. We'd form phrases, songs and relate the definitions to everyday things.
Year 4 IT defense: "Hey don't be scared o, you are brilliant jor". "Just explain the way you explained to me, be confident you hear". I'd like to say i killed that defence.
When he's away he'd call me or send a text and say "I miss you". Let's not forget how you'd come to school and bring a bag of rice for all of us in fellowship. We'd celebrate and thank God.
Mum would tell us how he'd go to work with new shoes, suit, suitcase, wristwatch and come back with shirt and trouser barefeet cause he saw someone on the road that was stranded and he gave them his stuff whether they could sell and get a little something.
So yes I am blessed, God gave me an amazing father and I'm so thankful for it. He'd help anyone that needed his help, give anything. Mum's stories of how Dad was always giving out things, would make us laugh.
Final year, i think a week or so before project defence. When mum came to pick me, I don't think I ever expected it. Truth is it's like a dream.
My Dad was kidnapped and it's exactly 2 years today. See i don't know how I graduated from University, Final year was a blur. I can remember i had sent you an "I miss you" message just before you could send yours. I was worried that you didn't reply but i guessed you were busy.
I can't believe you haven't gotten to see how much we are alike, how i take your marketing side, how doing business and reading all your books make me feel closer to you.
And we've tried to be strong, not talk about the tears, the pain, how every time the dog barks at night we run down and pray it's you at the gate.
My dad is somewhere out there and I need to find him. I need you to help me retweet, share, tag anyone that can help. Probably get the Vice President to see this, please i want my dad home.
