We Wish We Never Had to Call Ourselves Black Conservatives

But circumstances being what they are, and with the majority ethnic-tribe within conservatism refusing to complement or even acknowledge our reality, we are now forced into a situation wherein we must educate people,
.. again and again, about the dissimilar history that shaped and continues to shape our dissimilar identity.

Again, again and again we must educate.

Why did it start?

The movement was a response to the political and socioeconomic gains made by African-Americans following the Civil War and the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which eliminated slavery.
During Reconstruction, following the U.S. Civil War, black leaders in Texas and around the country gained increasing influence in the Republican Party by organizing blacks as an important voting bloc via Union Leagues and the biracial Black-and-tan faction of the Republicans.
