This is an excellent article highlighting the actual numbers provided by the CBO as it relates to coverage and the ACA. Its an easy read and I recommend it to both sides of the political aisle.

Here are the overall numbers as provided by the CBO:

-Employer based coverage has increased
-Those covered by ACA Medicaid expansion has increased
-Those getting subsidized via the ACA exchanges has increased
-Non Group unsubsized got crushed
What happened to the Non Group unsubsidized marketplace?

That's easy. It happened to me. The premiums skyrocketed, at least doubling for most. As the article points out, that market was over 10m before the ACA. Now its 6.2m. Here's what's happened just the past 4 years.
Because the premiums at least doubled, we in that marketplace had three choices:

1. Pay the increased rates
2. Don't pay the increased rates
3. Find a new job with healthcare benefits

Based on the CBO numbers, millions chose to not pay or change jobs.
Which leads to only one conclusion: The ACA is the grandest redistribution scheme ever perpetrated on the nation:

1. The rich pay for the poor
2. The healthy pay for the sick
3. Job lock was shifted from one income class to another
If all of this was made explicit from the start, the law would have never passed. Lack of transparency is in fact a huge political advantage.
