If Maria Butina didn't have a Russian passport, this case wouldn't have happened. Instead, she got locked up in solitary confinement while media outlets & pundits smeared her as a "spy", "honeypot", and the possible center of a Trump-Russia-NRA plot. A victim of Russophobia:

According to this Politico story, somehow Glenn Greenwald is viewed as a threat to The Intercept's ability to "credibly cover the Russia story"... because he was one of the few to get it exactly right. Do we want journalists, or cult members?

And btw, not only did Glenn get this right, he got this right *right from the beginning*, well before other Russiagate critics entered the fray, including me. That makes the work he did all the more impressive, and the complaints about it somehow hurting TI all the more puzzling:

2/ This article claims that: "Phone records and intercepted calls show that members of... Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign" - including Manafort "and other Trump associates had repeated contacts with senior Russian intelligence officials in the year before the election."
3/ That's quite the claim! But now, in his exhaustive review of Trump-Russia links, Mueller makes zero mention of it. And we already know -- which, to its credit, NYT acknowledged -- that Comey denied this story under oath: "in the main, it was not true." nytimes.com/2017/06/08/us/…
