Much of this has been done deliberately with false metrics that newsrooms desperate for funding fall for, because all the money has been siphoned off by higher-ups giving themselves raises and paying off victims of sexual harassment and abuse at the hands of the creeps they hire
Remember pivoting to video? Facebook just made those numbers up. Remember?
How many high-profile media men have been sunk by credible sexual harassment allegations in the past few years? How many more do we not know about yet? Paying off victims ain’t cheap.

Alright, let's be particular. Why is it a dumb idea?
They want to vote for may's withdrawal agreement - God, how MUCH they want to vote for it - but this should also require final endorsement by referendum.
Because if parliament is going to vote first and then ask for endorsement by referendum, it will also have to define in law what species of majority will be required to endorse that result.
What if Scotland and England vote different ways again?
Now, you can't wait until after it happens to deal with that. You're going to have to make provision for that possibility when you pass the referendum legislation.

In the question of "The Russians are successfully using Social Media info-warfare to divide us, plant fake news, & distort / undermine our democratic outcomes" if we take it at face value we might find at least 3 underlying reasons for the success that are often left unspoken:
1. Our societies are and were always already divided in different ways including, by class, gender, ethnicity, and cleavages on specific issues such as EU membership. The UK wasn't one harmonious unit before 1974 or 2016. Overt and latent divisions can more easily be exploited.
2. On the question of 'fake news', it really asks us all to take a very hard look at our media and to examine how it operates in conjunction and in conflict with power. How has it served power to mislead in the past, in the present? What is the real media crisis and for who?

It is the end of the month, isn't it? Maybe it's a good time to do a bit of a self-inventory.
I know the intensity of my presence on here kind of fades in and out. Sometimes that's got to do with what's going on in the news, sometimes it's got to do with what's going on with me. Right now it's a little bit of both that has me a little more scattered, a little reserved.
Summer's always hard on me, physically. Things are also tough emotionally and complicated logistically, because of extended family health stuff.

Mostly, I'm marshaling my strength because I know I'm going to need it more later. We'll all need it more later. November is coming.

This totes made the Massholes mad. Which was bad because while ornery, Massholes were organized . They'd set up a government & coopted the militia system - basically being more effective than any government of the past 70 years. Anyhoo.
