"The Liberals have done NOTHING for this country!" with the exception of...

A thread. #cdnpoli

1. Tax-free Child Benefit, up to $6500 per child - the largest social program announcement since public healthcare. /1
2. The Heathcare Accord with the provinces, after 4 years without one under the Harper Government™ /2
3. Impremented a $500 milllion National Pharmacare Program study. /3
4. A program for vulnerable seniors to top up their meagre pension to above the poverty line. /4
5. Restored funding for women's shelters / reopened women's shelters that were shuttered by the Conservatives. /5
6. Reopened and staffed the 9 Veterans Affairs offices that were shuttered by the Conservatives (see the pattern here?). In addition, they added one extra office to deal with the backlog caused by the CPC's cuts. /6
7. Restored the lifetime pension options for veterans. /7
8. Allocated $10 billion in new sp[ending for Veterans Affairs. (For all the Conservative crowing about national defence, all they ever did was throw our veterans under the bus. The Liberals have reversed that and then some.) /8
9. A new $40 billion program to help the provinces tackle the crisis in homelessness. /9
10. A new program to help the provinces deal with the Fentanyl crisis. /10
11. Lowered the retirement age back to 65, after Harper's increase to 67. /11
12. Added a Working Poor subsidy to help those on assistance transition into the work force. /12
13. Reopened the English Bay Coastguard station, which was (of course) shuttered by the Conservatives. /13
14. Created an extensive $1.5 billion plan to protect our oceans. /14
15. Bought the Trans Mountain pipeline to ensure its continued progress for the people of Alberta. /15
16. Finished negotiating the European Union free trade deal, CETA. /16
17. Reached an agreement for the CPTPP, the largest free trade deal in the world, worth an estimated $4.2 billion of economic activity by ensuring access to key Asian markets. /17
18. Ratified the Paris Accord, setting Canada on the road to meeting its climate change targets. /18
19. 67 First Nations 'boil water' advisories were lifted and 11 (and counting) drinking water problems were permanently solved. 463 projects are currently underway or completed in 587 communities. The CPC ignored First Nations for a decade. /19
20. Increased taxes on the wealthiest 1% and closed many unfair tax loopholes. /20
21. Lowered taxed on the middle class. In fact, it was one of their first acts as a government. /21
22. Reopened the Kitsilano Coastguard Station, which was - again - shuttered by the Conservatives. /22
23. Reinstated the long-form census, which was killed for ideological reasons by the Harper Government™. /23
24. Added more leave time for those who need access to Canada's Compassionate Care Benefit to care for sick family members. /24
25. The removal of the Conservative gag order on Canada's scientists. Facts over ideology. /25 (Cont. in Part II)
