With #Iran, The Trump administration has been pursuing a classic gambit of “heads, I win; tails, you lose.” Since the Iran nuclear arrangement was enacted, Trump continually lambasted it as “the worst deal in history” and a threat to American security.
After Trump canceled the deal, Iran reversed many of its nuclear policies, understandably. This, again, was treated by Washington as act of defiance, worthy of sanctions and saber rattling.
How can one look at Washington's behavior and not conclude that it is attempting to generate escalation and war? The admin didn't so much hate the Iran nuclear deal as it feared that it might work, that it might actually reduce tensions between Iran and the U.S.
It's simply too much to ask of any world power to be insulted, to have its diplomatic arrangements scuttled, and then be expected to be *more* subservient to Washington.
With Bolton, Pompeo, & co. we are not dealing with diplomats; we’re dealing with war-mongers. Trump could stop it, but he clearly doesn’t want to.
