Kano Emirate is not an "ancient kingdom." Very important to kill this horrible misconception with fire. It is an installation of Uthman dan Fodio when he destroyed the 7 Hausa kingdoms and replaced them with religious vassals called Emirs. It's not up to 200 years old!
*It's actually 214 years old. But the obvious point stands. The North has real traditional rulers and history dating back well before 1805. The supposed primacy of a group of "Emirs" imposed by a black colonialist is 100% manufactured and contrived.
I think part of the reason some people are fighting this tweet is that they've been taught that Uthman dan Fodio was some kind of social crusader or a force for good. The man was a bloodthirsty monster. You should google some of the stuff he did while conquering Northern Nigeria!
