All my love, strength, & solidarity to people who’ve been made to re-live, re-tell, and re-visit their miscarriages, ectopic pregnancies, stillbirths, and other pregnancy & infant losses as a result of anti-abortion laws championed by forced-birth advocates & politicians.
Those trying to force people into parenthood think people who have miscarriages and people who have abortions are at the opposite end of the spectrum: that we’re at war with one another. But in so many ways and in many cases, we are one and the same.
Abortion is just one of many common, normal outcomes of pregnancy. So many of us have a miscarriage, then go on to have an abortion(s). Or have babies, then have an abortion(s). Or have an abortion(s), then go on to have babies.
I have had an abortion, 3 miscarriages, an ectopic pregnancy, & have given birth to 2 babies who were alive & the remains of a fetus that died inside my body. I am the person forced-birth ppl attack & claim to protect; demonize & lift up as the end all be all of female existence.
You cannot — I repeat you cannot — demonize abortion w/out demonizing every other natural & common outcome of pregnancy. And we’re seeing that truth play out in real time. The possibility of ppl experiencing miscarriages being interrogated. Ppl enduring stillbirths going to jail.
Because, in the end, it is not and never has been about “protecting the sanctity of motherhood” or “championing life” or whatever bullshit the anti-choice movement is and has been peddling. It’s about controlling pregnant people’s bodies & women’s sexuality.
Interrogating and jailing people who have endured miscarriages, or prosecuting people who have given birth to stillborn babies, is, to pro-forced birth advocates, a justifiable means to an end.

Because the cruelty has been and always will be the point.
