Maybe he does implode, but sitting and waiting for a "gaffe" to destroy Biden is foolish. "Gaffes" are only harmful if they reveal something about a candidate that was previously concealed. See: Romney "47%" or Hillary "deplorables." Biden's persona already has "gaffes" baked in
The main thing that I could see genuinely undermining Biden is his cognitive capacities. He's 76 and it's common to falter at that age. He also underwent severe emotional stress recently due to the death of his son. But as recently as 2012 he performed very well in debates
I just watched Biden's first rally in Pittsburgh, and I think people are exaggerating the extent to which he was "slurring." He's not the most articulate obviously, but he's perfectly intelligible. Just like Trump, who also frequently struggles to formulate complete sentences
