"free traders" say a tariff is a tax that is paid by businesses and then passed along to the consumer so we should reduce tariffs to zero. Using the same argument should not all businesses both small and large operate as non tax entities since those business taxes are passed to..
...consumers. following this train of thought all the revenue raised by those business taxes should instead fall on the citizen to pay for all of government. Only then can we get the cheapest products. And what about sales taxes, sin taxes, property taxes. All cause products to..
..cost more. Shouldn't we get rid of all of them and instead raise income taxes of every citizen to pay for government so we can get the cheapest products? Government must be paid for by someone. I'm all for smaller government but still even small gov must be paid for.
All those taxes adds to the price of goods if the cost can be passed on. Why should importers be the only ones not paying for government and the upkeep of society?
