We must challenge this absurd narrative people knew what they were voting for. If they did, we would’ve already left and nobody would be complaining. So what was it? ‘All the benefits and none of the obligations’ is no answer. So what? They can’t say, and it doesn’t even matter
Some Leavers wanted a Norway-style option. Some wanted a customs union. Some knew and cared about Ireland, others did neither. Some had never heard of either customs union or single market. Farage’s genius is to discard that, lump 17.4m people together, call it betrayal and win.
