The Democrat Party is now entirely captive to its anti-Semitic extremists. The leadership has no choice but to keep doubling down and defending every vicious and stupid thing they say, because they can't afford to admit they were wrong. The anti-Semites know this.
This is how the Democrat Party will drift further into ugly anti-Semitism and related pathologies, a direction it was heading anyway due to identity politics. It will now be pulled more quickly into the darkness because the leadership will keep defending anti-Semitic garbage.
Also in play is the socialist punk wing of the Democrat Party, which believes the Democrats benefit by goading Republicans into responding to outrageous statements so they can be castigated as racists, sexists, Islamophobes, etc.
They think the Left should lean on its hegemonic control of the media and create opportunities to paint Republicans as bigots by luring them into "attacking" female and minority politicians who say outrageous things. Some think they need to use media power before they lose it.
What they don't realize is that the media's stupid "REPUBLICANS POUNCE!" framing of these stories is not aggressively hurting Repubs. It's a last-ditch effort to protect Democrats from themselves. It's a defense play, not offense.
The purpose of the Republicans Pounce framework is to firewall a foolish Democrat and make it unnecessary for other Dems to respond to their comments or condemn them. It's the media giving itself permission not to ask other Dems questions about a fellow party member's idiocy.
In the clickbait era, "Republicans Pounce" framing leads to headlines and Tweets that steer casual readers away from stories that damage Democrats. They think it's just a partisan food fight and move along to the next story.
A sea of "Republicans Pounce" stories is not a sign that Democrats are on offense and making political progress against the GOP. It's a sign the media is working overtime to protect the Dems from shooting themselves in the foot.
The punks in the Democrat Party don't understand that, so they think they're "winning" because their loudest, dumbest, ugliest members get to go on insipid talk shows and shriek about how Republicans are racists and sexists for criticizing them.
Meanwhile, Dem leaders are forced to grimace through endless apologetics and casual voters increasingly worry that the Democrat Party has become hostile and alien to them. Media orgs like CNN are reaching the limit of how much water they're willing to carry for these clowns.
The Democrat Party will drift further into anti-Semitism, ugly tribal politics, and lunatic socialism because the leadership did not act decisively to shut down the people pushing those toxic ideas when it had the chance. It's deeply disturbing to watch it happen. /end
