So a week ago today @onipress told me my "position had been eliminated." They gave me a check for work already done and an insulting fraction of my accumulated PTO. They didn't even pay me for the day I came in to get sacked.
In addition, they gave me a contract that includes a "severance" contingent on keeping my mouth shut. Note: I was making peanuts there, but that's not anywhere near the two months pay the contract itself promises in the same sentence. 
When I started I was told that I may be eligible for a raise contingent on a positive employee review after about three months. More than a year later and that review never happened, no matter how many times they were reminded.
Meanwhile, in the weeks leading up to this clusterfuck, I'd been told that following the merger they might have the budget to take me on full time. In retrospect, that seems more than a little bit manipulative.
So imagine my utter lack of surprise when I learned that they've just created a full time warehouse assistant position.
I'm confident in saying my performance there was exemplary. I was the only person in the entire department with prior warehouse experience or even a passing familiarity with health and safety regs. I'd point to my employee review, but again, they never conducted one.
When I started in that place it was a shambles. Nothing was organized and they hadn't done a stock audit since before they'd even moved into the building.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but there were rats nesting in corners and under pallets because they were storing opened food packages from conventions in with the stock. Pest control was never in my job description, but I handled it.
Meanwhile, the guy responsible for that is still there and head of the department. They had no legitimate reason to fire me, so they "eliminated the position" and then made it a position again. Classy.
I've got a lot more to say, particularly about how they sacked basically everyone in the company with a disability accommodation, but I need to go punch a heavy bag for a while.
