Many of you know I work in pediatric hospice. Recently I had a 6yo patient who was dying from multiple genetic defects. He was a result of incest. His mother had been repeatedly raped by her father & became pregnant at 13.
She chose to hv the baby becuz she was 13 & didn't fully understand what could happen to him medically. At birth he seemed ok. At 2 he started having seizures. Then he went blind. Then deaf. Then he lost bladder & bowel control. Then muscle control. He lost his
ability to speak. He would spend all day flipping & flopping around on the bed while she sat at his side. That was it. His entire quality of life. He was referred to us when his organs started shutting down. He was in a great deal of pain & anxiety but one of the issues
w his condition made his body not respond to medication so we couldn't stop his suffering. So instead we sat at his bedside w his 20yo mom (who never got to finish high school, who had no family assistance, who had no job). We held her while she cried becuz her
heart was breaking, becuz she couldn't stand to watch her child suffer. We then went outside & cried to each other because we were both heartbroken & filled w anger at the hand these two beautiful people were dealt.

This is what forcing women pregnant by incest will bring.
I wish I could make the people who propose & agree to these terrible laws spend a week in my shoes. I'd love for them to sit for hours & watch a little kid moan & cry round the clock in pain. Watch a kid who can't get comfort from touch because it hurts. Can't
get comfort from soft words or seeing his mother's face because he can't hear or see. I hope if there is a hell that these lawmakers in Alabama are sentenced to watch these kids for all eternity.
