Here’s my #GameOfThrones fan fiction thread of how it should have ended.
At the end of season 7 Cersei should’ve refused to join forces and not played a game about it. This causes the war against King’s Landing to take place before battling the Night King.
The Golden Company (with elephants) had already been “ordered” and pull up just in time for the huge battle for King’s landing with their dragon spears ready to go.
As the battle takes place outside, Drogon & Rhaegal (who at this point Jon has never ridden and in fact Jon doesn’t yet know he’s a Targaryen) along with the Dothraki/Unsulled/Northmen are clearly going to win.
However Cersei, with Jaime by her side watching, is refusing to allow a surrender. She’d recently lost their child to miscarriage and actually wants to see everything burn.
“Burn them all” running through Jaime’s head and already upset that Cersei wouldn’t join in the battle against the Night King, he implores Cersei to surrender but she won’t.
He grabs her and shakes her, she grabs a knife, Jaime wrestles it from her, the Mountain approaches to protect her, but just then Drogon attacks the Red Keep, and the walls fall in around them.
When Jaime wakes up, Cersei is dying from the blade Jaime was holding. The mountain had been knocked out of the red keep landing in the streets below where he encounters the Hound and that fight roughly goes the same as we saw.
As Jaime holds dying Cersei, the bells ring. Surrender. The war is over. Except just like we saw, Dany loses it (let’s assume they spent some significant time still setting up the madness). She kills shitloads of people before finally setting Drogon down and declaring victory.
Jon, now knowing he fucked up (and Tyrion knowing as well) spend more than the first 20 minutes of one episode grappling with this, instead we see Tyrant Dany take the throne and set her sights on the coming army of the dead.
The throne secure, they head north, meet up at Winterfell, Dany is straight up power mad but Jon and her are still hooking up.
Jon finds out from Sam that he’s the heir to the throne and he reacts much like we saw. Before he can tell Dany he finds out she’s imprisoned Sansa and is considering executing her when Sansa maintains the North’s desire for independence.
A minor rebellion breaks out with the Northmen fighting the Dothraki and Unsullied, but the Northmen are defeated.
Dany sentences the Northmen and their families to be executed along with Sansa when finally Jon thrusts his sword into Dany, Greyworm goes to attack but is assassinated by Arya.
Just as Dany’s loyal forces prepare to take Jon & Arya down, Rhaegal burns many of them to a crisp. Drogon flies in to kill Jon for killing his mother, Rhaegal attacks Drogon.
Rhaegal is victorious, and the various forces stand in shock not sure what to do next when suddenly they hear the horn blasting. The Night King’s army is coming.
They rush out, with barely a plan in place, and begin fighting the army of the dead. But Jon is still staring at Rhaegal who, after defeating Drogon, is staring at Jon. He lowers his head. Jon mounts him, they take off into the sky. You know.... like... an exciting version of it.
Even with Jon’s dragon there’s no stopping the army of the dead. Eventually yadda yadda, Jon ends up in a sword fight with the Night King since his sword is lightbringer (and thanks to the Red Witch, Jon’s sword flamed up with everyone else’s) and he kills the Night King.
This auto-kills the whole army of course. Jon fulfilled the prophecy, became Azor Ahai, it’s announced he’s the heir to the throne, he becomes king because he didn’t ignore 7 seasons of being set up for exactly that purpose.
Jaime, mortally wounded after battle, dies in the arms of the woman he loves, Brienne.
Sansa becomes queen of the North, Bran goes north of the wall to live in a tree or some shit, Tyrion takes up his role as the head of the Lannister family at Castely Rock.
Arya sails west (sorry for taking away her killing of the Night King, I feel certain there’s some way to make her role vital but I’d rather not do it at the cost of the entire story up to this point if possible).
The Dothraki go home. The Unsullied go to the homes they were taken from or something. Jon makes Davos his hand.
Show ends with Bran up in his tree looking down, he looks up right before the credits. His eyes are blue and his skin is getting icy.
The wheel wasn’t broken. All this same shit gonna happen again over the next couple thousand years. Nihilism intact. The end.
