Okay so you thinking about studying in the US. It fascinating and a very good experience. Before you know the US has the largest international students population with over a million.. This is a just just a short thread please CC @baba_Omoloro
1. First just prepare for the basic requirements. The US is very serious about its travel precautions, so you need genuine passport, ids, certificates, transcripts, (Just the basics)
2. Transcripts, that the most important. Some schools require official and unofficial transcripts. Most of them require unofficial first and official transcripts later. Unofficial transcripts are the ones are the scanned transcript
Official ones are one that would be sent directly from your previous institution to you chosen school in US. But first it started clearly if you need official or unofficial transcript for the application process.. (Mostly unofficial tho)
4. The next some schools requires transcript evaluations.. That i must say is a headache. Because course by course evaluation of transcript cost much.. So you have to check the school’s websites if you need a trasscript evaluation
Until u send your transcripts for evaluation to their required institutions you can’t complete ur application. So all am tryna is say is check on schools websites first.Because most schools also take the pains to evaluate to for themselves.
The next is Statement of Purpose(SOP)..So u write a SOP why you want to offer ur chosen course and why you should be given a scholarsip or paid tuition. (Check google for more information on SOP) Pls write a good SOP, also to check u writing skills
7. GRE is a PLUS. Some schools also needs your GRE score for scholarship purposes and some needs this in order to complete your application. Those with not so good class, u also need a GRE scorce..(Very important). Dnt stress abt Toefel and IELTS..
If you are here at this point, you are good to apply to schools. Take time go online. Search requirements. Email admission office. I work in admission office. We re employed because of you. Call admission office if you re not replied on time..
American schools unlike UK needs to pay admission fees, 30 to 50 dollars.. and some with a little more.. At least apply about 4 schools. And try getting intouch with admission office.
Just by applying don’t guarantee admission. Just like your previous institution it is based on merit.. If u get admission, Ur scholarship amount will also be given.. Either full or half. It will be added to a separate page in your admission letter..GOOD LUCK!!
