.@KenMijungu Just to clarify:

I AM AGAINST CBC.

I am not one of those who have a problem with implementation, textbooks or training of teachers. I am against the approach itself. #competencybasedcurriculum #sidebar
For me, the problems of implementation etc came from CBC, not the other way round.

I believe that even @KICDKenya doesn't know the monster that CBC is, that's why it didn't want to communicate to the public in the first place. #competencybasedcurriculum #sidebar
For the same reason that no one knows what CBC is, the textbooks had mistakes and took long to produce. And KICD didn't have the guts to face the teachers. To this day, some trainers secretly admit that they're still not sure what CBC is. #competencybasedcurriculum #sidebar
.@KICDKenya has now twisted our concerns about inequality to imply that we are saying that no one should be educated if we can't all be educated. We are not that stupid or simplistic. What we are saying is that #competencybasedcurriculum ENTRENCHES inequality #sidebar
Under 8-4-4, there has been inequality. But in principle, we wanted to teach all subjects to all pupils. CBC, on the other hand, justifies not teaching all subjects to all pupils. It calls that justification "talent." #competencybasedcurriculum #sidebar
.Also, the skills we are being told about critical thinking, communication, creativity and bla bla bla ARE NOT PART OF CBC. I said that on @ntvkenya last year, when I told @KICDKenya that the framework contradicts the claimed intentions. #competencybasedcurriculum #sidebar
There are two critical elements of the #competencybasedcurriculum that are contradictory.

One is that KICD has put pathways to restrict where children can go. How do you say you want to nurture talent, but at the same time put roadblocks at form 2? #sidebar
The 2nd contradiction of #competencybasedcurriculum is its claim to care about "nurturing learners potential," while promising to have quotas of how many can go to STEM and manual jobs, versus other more prestigious jobs #sidebar
Sorry, there's a 3rd contradiction of #competencybasedcurriculum: its claim to be preparing kids for jobs of the 21st century while claiming to want kids to learn. Like I said in 2018, telling students they learn for jobs ironically makes them not learn. #sidebar
So KICD is preaching water and drinking wine. It promises is a humane system, but it IMPOSES an inhumane teaching approach and curriculum. And the Kenyans who don't believe GoK fights corruption, believe GoK is telling the truth about #competencybasedcurriculum #sidebar
Finally, I am against CBC because it distorts society. Parents are now pupils, teachers are family therapists, kids are now workers (or slaves, as Nyerere would put it, and the market has become the nation.

So I AM AGAINST CBC #competencybasedcurriculum #sidebar
