You've probably seen the Left share this photo. But here's how to debunk this narrative that "25 white men legislated woman's bodies in Alabama."

This bill was not introduced by a man. The AL abortion bill was sponsored by a WOMAN in the AL legislature named Rep. Terri Collins.
Two things to know first: 1) In Alabama, according to Pew Research, women make up 49% of the GOP vote, while women make up 61% of the Dem party vote.
2) People tend to vote their party affiliation - this is a safe assumption because even in the controversial Moore/Jones Senate race, there was only a one-digit crossover of Dems voting GOP & Repubs voting Dem... meaning, registered GOP tend to vote GOP, registered Dems vote Dem.
In 2018, Rep Collins won her election 8803/5469. If 49% of GOP voters are women & Collins got 8803 votes, that’s 4313 women votes.

Collins’ Dem opponent got 5469 votes. If 61% of Dem votes are women, Dem got only 3,336 woman votes.

So, more women voted for Collins than against.
Here’s why this assumption is safe: there would have to be 12% drop in number of registered GOP women who turned out in Collins’ race vs 0% drop (full turnout) of registered Dem women to result in greater number of women who voted for the Democrat vs. Collins. Super unlikely.
So, the sponsor of the bill was a woman, Rep. Collins, and more women voters voted for her than for her Dem opponent.

Then, we have the Gov of AL who signed this pro-life anti-abortion bill into law, Gov. Kay Ivey. A woman. A woman signed this bill into law.
Ivey won a full term as Gov in 2018… 1.02M to 694K against her Dem opponent.

If 49% of GOP votes are women & Ivey got 1.02M votes, that’s 500K women.

If 61% of Dems votes are women votes & the Dem got 694K total votes, that's only 423K women.
So, more women voted for Gov. Kay Ivey than for her Democrat opponent. In fact, over 271K more women voted FOR Kay Ivey than voted against her.
So, the sponsor of the AL abortion bill was a woman, and the Gov who signed the bill into law was a woman… and more women voters voted for both of these women than for their Democrat opponents.
Then, we get to the 25 white men in the Senate… Let’s take a look at State Sen. Clyde Chambliss, a man the Democrats are calling a “key backer” of the AL abortion bill.
In 2018, Chambliss ran for State Senate unopposed. He won 98.1% of the vote. In 2014, Chambliss faced no Democrat opponent, only an Independent, and Chambliss won 80% of the vote. So, more women voted for Chambliss than voted against him.
So, here’s the heart of the matter: the majority of voters in AL are women: 56% of voters in the 2018 elections were women, compared to 44% who were men. That’s according to the AL Sec of State.
The sponsor of the abortion bill was a woman… the Gov who signed it into law was a woman... & more women voted for Rep. Collins & Gov. Ivey than voted against them. If we look at the so-called key backer of this bill, Sen. Clyde Chambliss, more women voted for him than against.
A Representative legislature is the voice of the people. It turns out the majority of women in AL chose the sponsor of the bill, the men who voted for the bill, & the Gov who signed the bill into law to represent them. So, you could say: the AL abortion law is thanks to women.
Now, Dems might say: wait for polling to show majority of women don't support this bill. But here's the thing: unless polls differentiate between moral & strategic support of this bill & whether support would exist if the bill included rape/incest exemption, it's not a good poll.
Moral of the story: Alabama is overwhelmingly pro-life. Perhaps the most conservative, pro-life state in the nation. Women in AL are overwhelmingly pro-life. Their Representative govt reflects that. And Dems are liars trying to scare women into thinking men control them. The end.
