Short thread. I am a child of adoption and this sickens me.
my parents went through hell trying to adopt me because they had a disability seen as disqualifying, back in the day.
but ultimately I became the first baby adopted to parents w/ that disability in the area, and my parents did a terrific job raising me.

I didn't go into a foster home.
what matters for prospective adoptive parents is whether they can love and raise a child.

Not whether they conform to the perfect, no flaws, Norman Rockwell, Aryan vision of parents in vogue at the time.
So, Trump is wrong. Again. In discriminating against prospective adoptive same sex couples, this time.

Not gonna say any more.

@drvox and as you can see from WaPo headline even if you don't click thru, central premise is that a carbon tax "is not controversial." But that's false for two reasons. I'll tag this #27Economists.
@drvox First, the #27Economists letter deliberately omits a key part of the plan -- a waiver of Exxon's liability for covering up what it knew about climate change back in the 1970s. #ExxonKnew

I've been rolling something around in my head these past few days. You'll likely be unsurprised it relates to #adoption.

What happens after reunion, even the good ones, a thread.
As many (if not all) of you know I am an adult #adoptee. Through DNA and searching, I became an adult adoptee in (partial) reunion last year.

I'd like to have a chat about things I've heard since then, and what it all means.
As per usual, I am an adoptee, but I'm not the only adoptee.

Some parts of this may resonate and reflect in the stories of others. Some parts may not.

All of those other stories are equally valid, and I only speak for me.

My dad started the car and told me to turn it off after a few minutes just before he set off on his trip. After a few minutes I went outside and turned off the car like he instructed. I locked the doors then I packed my clothes from the rope and took them upstairs

The next morning I wanted to warm the car again like he instructed but I couldn't find the key. I told my mom, we looked all over for it to no avail. We also had a journey to embark on so we just left when we couldn't find it. 2 days later, we came back and continued the search..
I was in full panic mode. What would I tell him when he came back? If I didn't find that key before he did, it would be the beginning of my end💀💔. He was to come back the next day so before bed that night, I took the case to baba God. I said....

[2/5]:- On 16 April 2015, I was injected with 1 ampoule(2 ml) of Inj. 'SETROL'{3% STS/60mg STS} directly into the nose UNETHICALLY, causing immense BURNING SENSATION and PAIN & INVOLUNTARY flow of tears at the very instant.This resulted in NASAL NECROSIS &finally NASAL GANGRENE.
[3/5]: Undergone 5 major Nose reconstructive surgeries at #ApolloHospital , Chennai. Went through huge mental & physical trauma & lost 1 academic year in Engineering due to all this .

It was the time we truly realised the power of social media and instant messaging services with regard to disaster management. Many were stranded on roof-tops without any other contact to the world other than their mobile phones. Whatsapp brilliantly solved the issue. (2/n)
