Thanks to @BlrCityPolice, and e-lost reporting app, I am going to get my lost phone tomorrow. I just completed the identification formalities this evening. The police have recovered the phone.

Thank you for such a wonderful service. 💐 🙏🏼
Some #tips on #Smartphone theft issues. These days, newspapers have at least 2-3 such cases everyday of chain snatching, phone snatching, bag snatching.

Want to know about all three?
How to avoid losing a phone?
1. Don't hold phone loosely in your hand on road facing side while walking. Avoid using SM apps on road.
2. Walk on footpaths, not on roads. Use headphone, Bluetooth, keep phone in trouser side packet. 3. Don't use phone while driving. Park n use.
Some do WA while driving! Police cameras watching you often. Ticket comes home!

2. Always store IMEI number safely at home. Store your phone box, don't throw it away. Don't tear IMEI number on sticker. Dial *#06# to know if reqd.
On phone, apply finger print, pattern scan, face recognition to open screen. Set screen lock to 5-10 sec inaction, while walking, driving.

Set track my device option ON in Google, in ph settings menu. Privacy champs may object, it's ok. Keep data ON. It helped me track thieves.
While going in public vehicles, sling your bag on front side. Never leave the phone in front zip pouch, and hang the bag on your back!
In public places / offices, never leave your phone unattended. Never keep phone on a table, near a window and sleep.

Setup backup option for contacts, WA, photos, occasionally backup imp data.

Yet, if you lose your phone what to do?
File a complaint using e-Lost app by BCP or any such app by your police.
Login to Google a/c of the phone Google id. Track via security option. I meticulously tracked its movement in one case, tracked the thief. Deactivate old SIM, buy new SIM. Report / call police to inform.
There's still one major flaw in Android from a security point of view. And, crooks make use of it to get the phone formatted / OS updated. For phones reported as stolen, Android / iOS should have a flag set in OS, that should disable format, hard reset.
If it gets fixed, a lot of phone thefts can be stopped, because such phone sellers won't be able to gain anything. In Bangladesh, they have a simple solution. They implemented long back. A stolen phone can never get activated on their networks, once reported. Cops get location.
