I got a lovely PR pitch about 5-year-old "Pediatric Hal", described in an email as ”a robotic boy so advanced he communicates verbally, rolls his eyes, ... even bleeds, cries and does other stuff."
The CEO of this company, Jim, "can bring Hal to you" the pitch went on.

I would also have a chance to meet Hal's family, including Super Tory, a newborn robot and "her mom, Victoria, who delivers babies all day long"
"You can meet Jim and Pediatric Hal for coffee"

UC Berkeley gets patent dispute with Broad Institute renewed.

I looked at the documents: technically, appears UC is betting everything on fact that their CRISPR invention used a "single" guide RNA, whereas Broad initially used two RNAs.

The dispute previously led to an "interference" proceeding, in which USPTO decided that basic CRISPR editing and CRISPR in human cells are different inventions.

ALRIGHT SO, cast your mind back to 2008. It was a very different time, in a lot of ways.
One thing that was big then that isn't now was one-click file hosting sites like Rapidshare. You upload a file, you get a link back, you can share the file.
so naturally this was immediately massively used for piracy. all over the place.
but anything shared in most forums would get reported and deleted, right?
except sites like 4chan. they have short-term threads so it wouldn't last long enough for the copyright holders to find out
