Today, I am tweeting about Mitch McConnell and his wife Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao. Why his wife you may wonder? Well, she Ms. Chao has boosted the profile of her family’s shipping company, which benefits from industrial policies in China to Trump admin.
Chao hasn't had a formal role at Foremost since the 70s, but she and McConnell have benefitted in other ways. James Chao, her father, gave them a gift between $5-$25 m in 2008, and Chao's family has donated $1.1 m to McConnell's campaigns & political action committees since 1989

affiliated in a nongovernmental capacity.” But Chao makes no apparent effort to show she’s promoting her family’s business only as a daughter, not as U.S. Transportation secretary, and in fact, it appears several of the videos were filmed in her government office."
It should be noted that transportation department officials say she has been a champion for the United States maritime systems. At her confirmation hearing, however, she didn't disclose her family’s extensive ties to the Chinese maritime industry.
The Senate questionnaire requires nominees to list all honorary positions. She also did not disclose several accolades she had received in China. She had a role as an international adviser to the city of Wuhan. An agency official stated that was "an oversight".
