Thread: Some stats on the wind and solar that will contribute to the ACT 100% renewable target, based on 7 months of generation data to the end of May.
96% of the time wind+solar was generating more than 100 MW, equivalent to the average needs of 125,000 houses
48% of the time, generation was more than 300 MW, equivalent to ACT's average demand
The wind and solar generated 99% of the ACT's net demand. 78% of that could have been supplied directly, without storage. 21% was excess to the ACT's needs at the time of generation, and has helped green the electricity of other states.
The average cost of the scheme in 2018 was $19.53 per MWh (LGC), or $12.59 for the wind and $102.80 for the solar certificates.
Note: the contract with Hornsdale 3 doesn't start till October, but this analysis assumes that it is already contributing to the ACT Target. More details and all 30 minute data graphed at
