Here are some facts from the 2019 UCLA Hollywood Diversity Report:

1)ONLY 2 OUT OF 10 LEAD ACTORS IN A FILM ARE PEOPLE OF COLOR

2)ONLY 2.2 OUT OF 10 LEAD ACTORS IN BROADCAST SCRIPTED TV ARE PEOPLE OF COLOR

3)PEOPLE OF COLOR REPRESENT 39.4% OF THE CURRENT US POPULATION

Tracking films from 2017, this @UCLA study also shows whites remained over represented with 77% of all film roles.

If you’re a woman from a minority racial or ethnic group, you’re especially underrepresented:

It gets even worse when we’re talking about people of color as directors:
1.3 out of 10? For both people of color, and then separately, women as directors.

Let’s take a look at show creators, shall we? Also severely underrepresented, with people of color only accounting for 9.4% of broadcast scripted shows. We’d have to quadruple that amount of representation to reach true parity with population.

And now let’s take a look at film writers. Less than 1 out of 10 film writers are people of color. And we’ve all heard about how some of them have been treated as only the “diversity hire” and all that bigoted bullshit. And when we go by gender, it’s not much better.
