Authorities arrest man they say was planning to bomb Times Square washex.am/2WuriEZ
The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force arrested the man, whose name has not yet been released, Thursday. Officials say that the suspect wanted to set off explosive devices in the heart of Manhattan.
The man, described as a “lone wolf,” had been inquiring about buying grenades and allegedly wanted to throw them at pedestrians in Times Square. Authorities don’t believe the man to be part of a larger plot to attack the city.

Immigration officials said "Operation Crosscheck," which netted suspects all over New England who were already ordered out of the country but still committed a crime, are all being flown home.
Some will be put on Boeing 737s owned and operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement or similar jets chartered by ICE. A few others, an immigration official said, will be escorted on commercial flights by ICE agents.

The new emergency facility in Carrizo Springs, Texas, will hold as many as 1,600 teens in a complex that once housed oil field workers on government-leased land near the border, said Mark Weber, a spokesman for Office of Refugee Resettlement.
The agency is also weighing using Army and Air Force bases in Georgia, Montana and Oklahoma to house an additional 1,400 kids in the coming weeks, amid the influx of children traveling to the U.S. alone.

LOS ANGELES – Four Southern California men who allegedly are members of a white supremacy extremist group have been named in a federal criminal complaint that charges them of travelling to political rallies across California,
where they violently attacked counter-protesters, journalists and a police officer.

Three of the four defendants are now in custody, and authorities are continuing to search for the fourth defendant.

(1) There's two different cases of mailing white powder to political targets that are prominent rn.

You have to read at least the above press releases to know the basics of each.
(2) I'll use this thread to address comments I see about either case. Currently, people are claiming that Frisiello should not have granted pre-trial home detention for 6 months & that he was likely to be able to easily escape it. The answer to this is not straightforward.
(3) First, some facts of the case (source: above press release):
>Offending occurred in 2015, 2016, 2017, & 2018.
>Wide range of political & personal targets.
>Arrested on 3/1/18, pleaded guilty on 10/17/18 to 19 counts.
>Sentencing is scheduled for 1/16/19.
