A Qing edition of The Mustard Seed Garden Manual of Painting - Jieziyuan Huazhuan Erji 芥子園畫傳, Jinchang (Suzhou), 1782. The early editions of this famous Chinese painting manual are renowned for their colour woodcut printing. I particularly love the part devoted to bamboo.
There were a total of three 'ji' or collections which form the complete 'Manual'.
This is the second collection - with four parts devoted to orchids, bamboo, flowering prunus (plum), and chrysanthemums.
The work was commissioned by Shen Xinyou (沈心友), whose mansion in Lanxi, Zhejiang province was known as Jieziyuan, or Mustard Seed Garden. Shen commissioned Wáng Gài (王 概), Wáng Shī (王蓍), Wáng Niè (王臬) and Zhū Shēng (诸升) to produce a manual for landscape painting.
The first volume of this 8 Juan set of the Jieziyuan Huazhuan Erji 芥子園畫傳 opens with a calligraphic title followed by particularly bold and stately typography.

Exquisite Tibetan calligraphy: The Perfection of Wisdom in 100,000 Verses, 13th - 15th century. This contains the first 3 sections, around 10,000 lines. Written entirely in gold and silver ink on heavy, multi-layered paper, stained black and then varnished on the writing space.
The Perfection of Wisdom exists in a range of recensions of which that in 8000 lines is thought to be the source. According to Buddhist belief, its precursor, no longer extant, in Prakrit, the vernacular language actually spoken by the Buddha, transmitted his actual spoken words.
To show the decline in Tibetan calligraphy from its 13th-15th century heyday, here is the title script in an 18th century Mahayana sutra. The script, also in gold ink, is in the same style and still beautiful, but lacks the confidence and power of the 13th-15th century version.

A Sino-Tibetan folded book printed in Beijing in 1410, with dhāranīs in Sanskrit written in Tibeto-Nepali characters and woodcuts of protective mantra-diagrams and deities, block printed on heavy white paper. Breathtakingly detailed printing in red ink, 40 years before Gutenberg.
The script is Ranjana/ Lantsha, an ornamental form of post-Gupta Brahmi. The text is printed twice, once on each side of the paper, so that the book may be read in the Indo-Tibetan manner by turning the pages from right to left or in Chinese style by turning from left to right.
The ink was likely made from cinnabar (mercury sulphide). As a very broad generalisation, Chinese inks tend to be more colourfast over the long term than Western ones. The thick paper, the printing & the binding painted with the 1000-Buddhas motif are all of the highest quality.

Norn is a North Germanic language that was spoken in Orkney & Shetland until the islands were pledged to Scotland by Norway in 1468–69, after which it was gradually replaced by Scots. Norn became extinct in 1850, after the death of Walter Sutherland the last known native speaker.
There were different variants or dialects of the old Norn language spoken in Orkney, and in the Shetland Isles. This is the Lord's Prayer in Orkney Norn, in Shetland Norn, and in Old Norse.
By the late 17th century, Norn was in decline. A 1670 source states that there are "only 3 or 4 parishes" in Orkney where people speak "Noords or rude Danish". Another from 1701 indicates that there were still a few "Norse" speakers who were capable of speaking "no other thing,"
