A THREAD for Trooping the Colour, marking the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II in Britain.

Expect a full turn out of royals for this annual event, including William and Kate as well as Harry and Meghan, who takes a short break from her maternity leave. #TroopingTheColour
Living outside Britain and want to see it live?
The BBC is streaming it on its YouTube channel, and it can be seen here in Canada:
Kate is wearing sunny yellow. Here she arrives at Buckingham Palace
First procession leaves Buckingham Palace
First carriage with Camilla, Kate, Harry and Meghan
The Queen leaves Buckingham Palace in the Scottish State Coach. She is alone, as Prince Philip formally retired from royal duties.
The royal colonels (William, Charles, Andrew and Anne) follow behind the Queen along the Mall to Horseguards Parade
Camilla, Kate, Harry and Meghan seem to be having an animated chat as they arrive at Horseguards Parade for the beginning of #TroopingtheColour
A lovely photo of Meghan by James Whatling. The Duchess of Sussex is wearing navy blue, with a small matching hat
The Queen's coach is about to make the turn onto Horseguards
The Queen is an absolute expert for all the intricate maneouvres and details involved in Trooping the Colour. She should be, having completed her first event in 1947, some 72 years ago.
And here is the list of royal fashions:
It is possible to see Trooping the Colour. You can enter a lottery run by the Army that opens at the beginning of each year: qbp.army.mod.uk

FROM A REALM NATION (Canada, Australia etc)? Contact your High Commission in London. They have separate lotteries with BETTER ODDS
In 2016, I won tickets via the Canadian High Commission lottery. (note: The costs are identical to the main draw). This was my view in 2016.
The precision displayed at Trooping the Colour is hard to convey in a photograph. Turning soldiers 180 degrees? No problem.

Sure, it takes hours and hours, days and days, years and years of practice. All we see is the final result.
The ensign of the Grenadier Guards has taken possession of the Colour.
Camilla and Kate watch from the old Duke of Wellington's office at Horseguards as the band pinwheels, while maintaining its location
There are dramatic royal hats, and then there are SOPHIE, COUNTESS OF WESSEX, DRAMATIC ROYAL HATS
The colour is paraded in front of the Queen.
A nice set of photos of Camilla, Kate, Harry and Meghan in a Clarence House tweet (Clarence House is the official account of the Prince of Wales)
If you want to get the ultimate royal look, then be prepared to dig deep. Princess Eugenie's hat retails for nearly US$1,000
The Queen is expressionless as she listens to yet another rendition of God Save the Queen #TroopingTheColour
The carriages with the Yorks and Wessexes travel up the Mall for Buckingham Palace
The troops of the Household Division leave Horseguards, making that wide turn to go up the Mall for Buckingham Palace. FYI: the Mall itself is lined with soldiers from the Welsh Guards
The Queen amid her troops. The glass ceiling of the Scottish State Coach fills it with a rather beautiful light, as if there is a natural spotlight just for Her Majesty.
The royal family stands on the balcony of Buckingham Palace as the Queen returns at the end of Trooping the @Trooping
(there will be a second appearance of the entire family at the flypass)
Meghan and Harry are absent from the balcony as members of the royal family watch the Queen return after Trooping the Colour. Perhaps Archie needed them.

We should see everyone, including the Queen, on the balcony for the RAF flypass
Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte watch the action from a window of Buckingham Palace
Prince Louis makes his debut on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, and immediately begins waving at the aircraft in the flypass
Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, have joined the rest of the royal family for the flypass at Buckingham Palace

(They were absent from the balcony when the Queen returned to the palace. my bet: Archie needed them)
What the royal family is looking at: the Red Arrows fly up the Mall
After Prince William takes Prince Louis into his arms, the Cambridge family watch the flypass (Prince George and Princess Charlotte seem to really enjoy it) then leave the balcony
Queen Elizabeth II waves BYE BYE at the end of a long week of work.

The 93-year-old's hectic schedule started on Monday with the state visit of Donald Trump and ended today with her official birthday, marked by Trooping the Colour.
