The @nytimes and most of the free press missed the real Cambridge Analytica scandal. Too dazzled by the shiny object of “misappropriated” Facebook Likes to miss actual criminal mass data abuse. It’s not surprising that @nytopinion is still missing the point and botching facts.
Americans don’t realize that Cambridge Analytica committed mass data abuse by politically profiling all 200M+ voters illegally against UK Data Protection Act/GDPR, regardless of Facebook harvesting. If @PrivacyProject doesn’t explain this who will?
Here’s the cheat sheet if it’s not crystal clear from above. These are functionally equivalent terms:
UK DPA = GDPR
SCL Elections = Cambridge Analytica
