Last night I happened to find myself in a major metropolitan hospital emergency department with a loved one. On the other side of the curtain was a strapping fellow passing a kidney stone. It was akin to labor with screaming, hand holding, breathing, meds. Sheer agony.
I don’t know why but it made me think about childbirth, how men could never do it. But yet, some men want to control our bodies. They want to take away our agency. Not sure why I conflated a man passing a stone by his own power with men trying to ban abortion by removing ours.

Last night, I decided to treat myself to a great meal. So I walked into a five star hotel restaurant. After going through the menu, I ordered some food and about 20 minutes, a group of men and women walked in and ordered theirs. To my dismay, these folks got served first - THREAD
I watched as they began to eat and laugh heartily. I even overheard one of them bragging about how he is connected to everyone in the hotel, and I felt mocked.

I wanted to leave.
Unable to take it anymore, I called the waiter. He calmly told me, “Yours is a special order being prepared by the chief chef himself. Their orders were prepared hurriedly by students on attachment because the top chefs are busy with yours. That is why they were served first."

has passed away.

She had an amazing wit, and was one of my favorites.

For those of you who followed her, you know what a loss this is for our community.

I can only imagine the loss for her family and friends.
