NEW: TheDCNF has prevailed in federal court over the FBI in our bid to obtain Daniel Richman's government work product and communications. You'll recall that James Comey used Richman to ferry memos detailing his interactions with President Trump to TheNYT.

My colleague @rpollockDC filed a FOIA request with the FBI after learning that Richman had "special government employee" status with the Bureau. In that capacity he had a security clearance, advised Comey, and performed special projects.

The FBI failed to make a determination on that request within 20 days, so @CauseofActionDC sued the Bureau on TheDCNF's behalf. Here's the complaint:

In turn, the Bureau asked U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly for an 'Open America' stay, seeking to delay our proceedings until December 2020. 'Open America' stays allow agencies to delay production of requested documents in "exceptional circumstances."

Judge Kollar-Kotelly denied that motion, so the FBI will begin document production within one month. The ruling:
