Just a few short months ago, the House passed #HR8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act, and H.R. 1112, the Enhanced Background Checks Act – legislation inspired by the courage of survivors & the persistence of young advocates across the country.
It’s time for the Senate to follow suit by holding a vote on these commonsense measures to prevent gun violence. #HonorThemWithAction #Pulse

Alabama’s new law is heartbreaking. Imprisoning doctors and punishing women over access to vital, legal medical care is a staggering violation of both basic morality and constitutional rights.
Every woman has the right to basic reproductive health care – yet Republicans have trampled over a long-standing constitutional right in their haste to push a radical anti-woman agenda.
This clear and intentional violation of the Constitution directly imperils the health of countless women, and cannot be allowed to stand.

The Special Counsel report laid out eleven instances of the President’s obstruction, and left a raft of unanswered questions about coordination between the President’s campaign and Russia. These are not trivial or political questions – they go to the wellspring of our democracy.
On every issue that matters in people’s lives, the Administration and a complicit Republican Senate are waging an unprecedented, unwarranted, unconstitutional and utterly dangerous campaign of stonewalling.

Three years ago, with little more than my conscience and the evidence I had seen that Russia was meddling in our democracy, I took a deep breath and left the GOP. I left my fiancé, my friends, my professional network, and my future career.
I didn’t find another job for almost a year, no doubt because I was greyballed from journalism jobs. I was the target of a digital smear campaign. I was mocked in a hit piece and whispered about as a cautionary tale.
All I had to do was say that I was being hysterical and making it up, and I’d be welcomed back into the fold. But I wasn’t. When Flynn was pushed out in early 2017, I knew I couldn’t back down.

Three years ago today most of the world was in a state of shocked mourning. It was like a living nightmare. To me it felt like we had entered another realitiy's timeline, while some other had taken ours. There @HillaryClinton would be taking the oath of office.

Instead, in this crazy alternative timeline everything was upside down. I would tell people it felt as though from November 8, 2016 every single thing that happened suggested we were now on an opposite day loop.

To be honest, that feeling has never subsided.

For Americans anywhere politically left of Genghis Khan, it felt almost Shakepearian. A triple tragedy. So much loss.

Many of us knew well before that moment that Donald Trump had stolen the election.

But he had stolen more than that. He had stolen history too.

I just had an epiphany: #beautiful has become my new favorite word. That may seem strange given my circumstances. In June 2017 I was diagnosed with incurable stage IV #lungcancer.
I naively thought that maybe my lifetime of being a health and fitness junkie would insulate me from such a medical fate. Wrong. And So here I am, fifty-one years old and not sure how much time I have left on earth. I know I could, or maybe should, feel angry, cheated, jaded.
But I don't. I have this epiphany that my new favorite word is beautiful and I'm not sure why. There is nothing beautiful about what I've gone through since my diagnosis--lots of physical and emotional distress to be sure. But yet, I keep find

Three years ago today I started dying. Not in the sense that "we're all dying," but dying really fast and really hard.

Ask me anything.
I'd planned to take my account private to discuss this, but then realized I'm just a hat that isn't white, so discussing it openly probably won't derail my future Supreme Court nomination.
What happened to me is this: I acquired a highly aggressive internal infection, which attacked my liver and went on to attack my kidneys. That I liked beer (I really liked beer) didn't help. I was a functioning alcoholic at the time.
