Today, a bipartisan agreement has been reached that will enhance our national security & invest in middle class priorities that advance the health, financial security & well-being of the American people.
The House will now move swiftly to bring the budget caps and debt ceiling agreement legislation to the Floor, so that it can be sent to the President’s desk as soon as possible.

Yet @SenateMajLdr McConnell continues to put his own political survival before the survival of our children.
Today, we made it clear to @realDonaldTrump that any proposal he endorses that does not include the House-passed universal background checks legislation will not get the job done, as dangerous loopholes will still exist and people who shouldn’t have guns will still have access.

From Day One, the Trump Admin has sold out our children’s health to enrich special interests & big polluters pushing their toxic agenda.
The Trump Admin’s deeply dangerous & startlingly short-sighted proposal to gut protection for clean air from methane emissions showcases the Administration’s utter disdain and disregard for the clean air our children breathe and the clean water they drink.
If allowed to become law, this rule threatens to choke our communities with pollution – poisoning families’ health today, and threatening their security and well-being for decades to come.

It is alarming to watch the #HongKong police with support from Beijing intensify their use of force against the protesters and label them violent criminals.
I urge Carrie Lam to meet with protest leaders to listen and act on their legitimate grievances including withdrawing the extradition bill, ending police violence & granting universal suffrage.
The people of Hong Kong are trying to preserve the promise of One Country - Two Systems. If we don’t speak out for human rights in China because of commercial interests, we lose all moral authority to speak out elsewhere.

Today, I will try my hand at live tweeting insights from "A #Home of One's Own", a two-day #researchworkshop on socially & economically #marginalised women's experiences of and negotiations with #genderinequalities in #informalurbanhousing in India.
This workshop has been organised by #JadavpurUniversity (School of Women's Studies), #RabindraBharathiUniversity (Centre for Women's Studies) and #Parichiti, a women's organisation. All three are research partners on a #GCRF project funded by @GoldsmithsUoL.
Since Oct 2018, I have collaborated with Dr. Henrike Donner, who is leading it, to develop #researchcollaborations with #educational and #development organisations in India to implement a pilot study on #genderurbanhousing. This workshop marks the end of the first phase.

Today, the Board of Health and Toronto Public Health were advised the province would be slashing approximately $1 billion of funding over the next 10 years.
This change, hidden in the provincial budget and imposed without any consultation whatsoever, will hurt the health and wellness of Toronto residents.
The funding they are cutting goes towards keeping our water safe, our children vaccinated against deadly diseases, our restaurants clean, and our pets from getting rabies, along with many other programs dedicated to ensuring people are healthy
