Carl Beech trial hears he emailed police to say he thought the former HP Harvey Proctor looked “scared” after his home was searched
DS Danny Chatfield, who acted as Beech’s contact officer, told Newcastle Crown Court he called the complainant on 4 March 2015 to say that five properties were being searched in relation to three people he had accused
The following day Beech emailed the officer to say he watched Harvey Proctor on the news following the search and “I hoped he looked a little scared but that might be just wishful thinking"
He also wrote "I really hope there will be enough evidence to see him in court” and "if pure evil can take a human form, it's him"
A day later he emailed DS Chatfield to say Exaro News wanted to publish a piece encouraging other survivors to come forward and had asked for a quote from him
He then provided the detective with a copy of his proposed comments, which included the line “there are some excellent detectives from the Metropolitan Police” working on the investigation.

DS Chatfield replied: “The wording is fine with us, so please go ahead”
The detective also told Beech that Exaro News wanted to reveal information about the police searches and the Met would be providing it with the relevant geographical locations, which he then sent to Beech.

"Thanks for telling me the other places”, Beech responded
The court also heard that – on 27 February 2015 – Beech was told that detectives had visited the family of Martin Allen to say that ‘Nick’ (his then pseudonym) had identified their relative as a murdered boy
Jurors have heard that Beech's identification of Martin Allen occurred after being shown an image of him during a meeting with the BBC in November 2014
The Allen family had been warned to "treat the information with caution”, DS Chatfield had told Beech.

Jurors saw a series of emails from Beech to the officer in which he described being followed on Twitter by Martin Allen’s brother and how he wanted to have contact with him
DS Chatfield told the court he regularly warned Beech against such contact, saying “witnesses can’t be seen to be colluding together, which is how that may be viewed”
In later messages, Beech was told that detectives were reviewing the original inquiry into the 1979 disappearance and were not in a poison to confirm Martin Allen as the second alleged murder victim
When given a further warning about contacting the missing boy's relatives, DS Chatfield told Beech: "If boy two is not Martin Allen you will be providing misplaced hope to the Allen family”
The officer wrote that Beech "should never have been shown the photo in the way you were" and that his identification of Martin Allen was “deeply flawed”
The court also heard about Beech's reaction to a press conference held by Harvey Proctor in August 2015 during which he detailed - and furiously denied - Beech's claims
Beech had sent DS Chatfield a draft statement he had written, addressed to Harvey Proctor, which asked him to show "respect" for the families of the alleged murder victims and said "hopefully it will go to court”
During the following months, Beech sent DS Chatfield messages complaining about coverage of his case in the Daily Mail and asking if the paper would be prosecuted
As autumn turned to winter that year, the court heard that police wanted to arrange a new interview to deal with inconsistencies in his account, but Beech kept changing the date and admitted he did not want to go through with it
During the same period, detectives stopped receiving messages from 'Fred', who Beech claimed was a fellow abuse victim and corroborative witness for the third alleged murder
The court heard that, in August that year, 'Fred' emailed police to say he had received a threat which made him more wary of coming forward to police
Beech later told DS Chatfield he would advise 'Fred' against speaking to police. Jurors have heard that prosecutors alleged that the 'Fred' email address was created by Beech himself, who posed as a corroborative witness in exchanges with the Met
