Carl Beech trial hears from his ex-wife who says she only learnt about his VIP abuse claims after seeing him being interviewed about them on television
Dawn Beech said that, during their marriage, her former husband never said anything about witnessing murders or being abused by famous people. She told Newcastle Crown Court he denied being on television when she asked him about it
The Met Police investigation which looked into Carl Beech’s claims - Operation Midland - started in October 2014
Giving evidence behind a screen, Dawn Beech said she recalled watching a Panorama about a “VIP paedophile ring” in October 2015.

The court heard she recognised a silhouetted figure mentioned by the programme, who had made allegations of abuse by powerful people
Prosecutor Tony Badenoch QC asked who the person was.

"It was my ex-husband Carl Beech”, she said.

"Had he ever mentioned any such thing to you during your marriage?"

“No", Dawn Beech replied
The witness said she later spoke to her ex-husband about the programme after he agreed to answer an “obscure question".

"Were you on Panorama the other week?", Ms Beech said she asked.

"He said ‘me on Panorama?’ What would I be doing on that?’”, was his response, she said
During their marriage, she said Carl Beech claimed he had been abused as a child by his stepfather, but never mentioned any other alleged abusers
Ms Beech said she had not wanted to know the details because "I just didn’t want those types of images in my head”
Dawn Beech also told jurors about a “good memory box” her ex had shown her early in their marriage. It contained items including a penknife.

"I seem to think he acquired it from his grandmother", she said when asked about the penknife
Jurors were previously told Mr Beech later handed the penknife to police, claiming it had been given to him by the former MP Harvey Proctor during an abuse session
The court also heard Carl Beech published a book called 'Nurse, Nurse' in 2006 under the pseudonym Lucy Samuels
Dawn Beech said she had recently read the book

Asked if the stories in 'Nurse, Nurse' were true, she said: "I believe some of them were sensationalised”
