Well this is interesting. I was just assaulted at the bus stop. A random woman who was also sitting on the bench got up, walked past and hit me on the head, quite hard. I was so fucking angry I got up and yelled at her. She didn't turn around, but gave me the finger.
The security guard at adjacent shop helped me call police and offered medical assistance. Police say I have to make a report in person. To be honest I haven't got the energy today. And she will be long gone.
I'm just mystified. It came out of nowhere. What was the point of it?
So I went to the police station this morning and made a statement. Turns out that having tweets about the assault was quite handy, as they confirmed time and description within minutes of the event.
This now kicks off a process of looking for CCTV footage. I also have a case number and an info booklet about being a victim of crime. Kate the police officer was very friendly and helpful. @SAPoliceService
She confirmed that reporting was the right course of action and not a waste of everyone's time, even though I wasn't really injured. It was hard not to feel like I was making a fuss over nothing.
The truly weird thing, though, was this. When I first moved to Adelaide, i went to a hairdresser in Blackwood. They had ANOTHER Alice Gorman as a client. She was an ace tennis player.
Her record was mixed up with mine. We had both reported various incidents over the years e.g. stolen wallet. The police officer read them to me so I could confirm which were mine and which not.
As her incidents had sporting connections, I'm pretty sure it is the same Alice Gorman I used to share a hairdresser with.
And guess what the name of the salon was. ANTENNA. Which is ironic given how much time I've spent working on radioastronomy antennas lately.
Anyway, other Alice Gorman from Adelaide, a big hello if you're out there in Twitter lands!
Finally thanks all my Twitter mates - always lovely to feel supported and among frìends.
And a big thank you to @jstpwalsh who came with me and knew how tall I was for the police records.
