Stop lifting children and babies from their hands

If you want to carry them, carry them from their armpits, lifting or yanking a child from their hands can lead to dislocation of the elbow joint

Your nannies should know this, anyone handling a toddler should know
Please retweet
This condition is known as nursemaid elbow and is common in children between 1 to 4 years of age

This happens because the ligaments that hold bones together in children are loose and not as firm as that of adults, so it's easier for a bone to slip and get stuck
Any force that is high enough to dislocate the bone, most likely will
Other things that can cause thus are:

Swinging a child by the arms
Stopping a child's fall by holding the arms
A baby rolling over in an uncomfortable position
Jerking a toddler's arm suddenly to correct them
If your child has the elbow dislocation, they won't want to use affected arm,
Instead they'll keep the arm straight with just a slight bend in the elbow,
Nannies and nursemaids used to be responsible for this injury, hence the name

Will there be swelling or redness? No
Your doctor will reduce the dislocation, not an overly complex procedure
