Look, as a fact-checker, let me just correct you here and inform you it was a mixture of working at McDonalds and mass executions, okay?
Look, I'm sorry lady but you're just spreading lies in stating Auschwitz was purely a death camp. Some people were allowed to live their lives you know.
Hey listen, she wasn't referencing Auschwitz or Nazi camps and even if she were, well hey, people weren't all murdered there either.
That's great work guys,. You go on fact checking Auschwitz to defend the precious. It's a good look.

It's fun watching journalists clench their cheeks and try to whistle past this particular graveyard.
I mean whatever you do guys, don't ask the guy instrumental in getting the last Democrat healthcare plan rammed through congress and wiping out his party why we should trust him this time around.

I mean whatever. This is factually wrong. Kashuv met with and lobbied members of congress to help pass the STOP School Violence Act which grants funds to schools for security measures. It was in the Omnibus spending bill. This is from Sandy Hook Promise

#Auschwitz began its operation on 14 June 1940, when a transport of 728 Polish political prisoners arrived. Poles were sent to the camp from all parts of German occupied Poland until fall of 1944. Up until mid-1942 they were the majority of prisoners. lekcja.auschwitz.org/en_1/
A large group of prisoners were members of the Polish intelligentsia, who were considered dangerous by the German authorities on account of the authority they had among compatriots. The Germans considered these people the most likely to organise and direct a resistance movement.
The camp also held other Poles involved in conspiratorial activities, people arrested during street roundups, peasants evicted from the Zamość region as well as Warsaw inhabitants sent to Auschwitz during that city’s uprising.

#Fact: Did you know that In January, February and March of 2019, 8,493 people were murdered in #Mexico, they say that this is the most violent first quarter on record that is a jump of 9% above the start of 2018, which was a record at the time.
They also say that the City of "Mexico City" experienced a 46% increase in the number of homicide victims compared to the first quarter of 2018 with that of 2019. #Mexico

I did something similar to this 5 years ago, in anticipation of EC & @theroots' Wise Up Ghost LP, on tumblr.

(You can still find all those posts if you look, although a lot of the YouTube links etc are now dead ends. It was 40 Days Of EC then, so for 2018 I'm upping it to 45.)
Mostly I will be going chronologically from the early years right up to the present, but it feels right to start out with Costello's 2002 song, "45."

I feel like driving up some controversy, so how about a thread of Hot Takes/Unpopular Opinions! You know the drill, one like = one take/opinion.

Start easy: the blunt awkwardness/cringe of 'Blurryface' is the point of taking the piss out of Tyler. I stand by my light 9/10.
2. I don't hate Nickelback's 'Dark Horse' - it's easily a record for them at their most tasteless, but the frat-bro swagger of it helps some of their better hooks.
3. 'Fireflies' by Owl City is a genuinely terrific song that captures precocious, starry-eyed wonderment better than few others in the 2000s.

It is SPECTACULARLY lame, but that's why it works.

#Fact 1 - The Wage Gap is real. People who says it's not haven't read the data.

However, in places like the USA, the wage gap is *not* mostly due to sexism like many #femnist #WomenInScience are claiming it is today. Disparate outcomes doesn't imply disparate treatment.
Women typically choose fields that are lower paying; even in the #STEM fields. To attribute that to sexism only or even mostly is a very dishonest way of deriving an answer for this complex disparity.

Fascinating. Reminded how Bollywood struggled with this because film stock was imported and didn't work with brown skin tones 1/n
2. So colour films dating back to Mughal-e-Azam have weird shadings. My fav is how Dilip Kumar constantly had a green undertone
3. So the tech guys always struggled to get the tones right but it never quite worked. Because the actual film was not intended for PoC
