Every candidate for the leadership is standing on a personal manifesto to renegotiate.
Every candidate is wrong, but you have to elect one of them, and whichever one it is will immediately fail the very policy they were elected to pursue.
To be fair, Piers Morgan did actually confront Sajid Javid with this, that Europe will not renegotiate. But all he got was the same bluff and bluster.
"They always say that. I'm your top negotiator. I know these people. I will negotiate. Blah blah."
If a prime minister is elected in conditions like this, they're not going to last a month.
They will have only been elected by the Tory membership in the first place. Have no national mandate. Have no majority. And immediately fail what they boasted themselves up to get the job.
And a complete wet flop of a political media that in months, fuckin years, have failed to confront any of them with the realities of the job they want.
Parochial doesn't even begin to describe English political; journalism. It's as if the outside world doesn't exist.
And the fact is, the English media has failed for the last three years for one reason only

English media does not accept the European Union as a source of valid information.
This is the only reason I've had the right answer for the last three years. I chose to regard the European Union as a valid source of information.
That's what gave me the right answer.
I kept saying Theresa May would resign - God, a year sooner than she did - because once you took the European Union as valid information, Theresa May's resignation was the only possible result.
And I can tell you exactly the same thing again. If the next Tory leader is elected with one of the policies we heard last night, they will meet the same failure, and they will also be forced to resign.
Because I know three things.
That withdrawal agreement will never get through Parliament.
Europe will never give you another.
And Parliament won't allow us to leave with none.
And the only conclusion from those three propositions is that we will never leave at all.
What we need is a prime minister who acknowledges that fact, and that was Sam Gyimah. The only candidate with a viable plan.
