@chrislhayes I know you're trying to respect the humanity that is not entirely flushed out of ICE. I saw those emails, you've probably spoken to those people.

This *system* is *going* to flush our kind out. It's designed to do that, inexorably. It doesn't happen immediately.

When we talk about history repeating, what we're saying is that we've seen these processes evolve before. There are forces. They're set up in a certain way. Things happen that are not, you know. Random.

We have camps. They're concentrating a class in a place. Some are dying.

The problem with the "slippery slope fallacy" is there are in fact slopes that are slippery. These are things that exist.

History does repeat. And not necessarily in comfortable ways. The Nazi's didn't manifest from some alternate dimension. There were suitable conditions.

We have a refugee crisis from the War in Central America we can't bring ourselves to admit even exists.

History repeats whether or not you notice.

Only three things you can do with a large refugee population:

Absorb. Exile. Kill.

Founding Fathers said absorb. That's what birthright citizenship means.

Whole lot of people aren't comfortable with that. So here we are, denying we even have refugees in the first place.

Denying the question even exists is very postmodern, much wow, but you can only kick that can for so long.

But we sort of select for who can kick the can the longest, in our malfunctioning system. Some people actually are pretty good at it.

Works till it doesn't.

You're not wrong that lazily branding these facilities "concentration camps" is a slight against honorable men and women who are doing everything in their power to not be Nazis.

Ask them, will they still be there in one, two, five years?

Who will be left running these camps?

They will say they don't have the power to shut the camps down, but they do have the power to protect people, as long as they can, as much as they can.

They will be honest, and they will be right. They are not the problem.

We actually need to fire the guy. Leadership matters.

You're trying to do a decent thing. I can see it, I can hear it, I can respect it.

These are concentration camps. Good people are being forced to run concentration camps. They will quit. The camps will remain. And somebody's going to keep running them.

Who will not be good.

And the reality is, people quit to save their soul. If they can. It's a privilege. Some people don't quit, some people can't quit, they have families they love, they...guess that's just how it works now.

Nazis are manufactured. This is how you make them.
