I was incredibly moved by the piece she wrote yesterday, and I was filled with hope that finally, THIS would be the first case with forensic evidence that could be used to confirm a victim's story of forcible rape at the hands of the now most powerful man in the nation.
But in this interview, even though she acknowledges she possibly has physical evidence that could finally be used to hold Trump to account for his acts of violence and sexual violence against women - AND CHILDREN AS YOUNG AS 11 YEARS OLD, she thinks it would be disrespectful?

I think @AnandWrites is suggesting a better metaphor for understanding the growing economic gap the wealthy are hoarding all the growth.

But I think one question that needs to be asked: how many wealthy individuals could have truly amassed their fortunes legally & ethically.
The chart @alivelshi used to illustrate what essentially is the doubling of wealth in the top 1% vs the loss of wealth in the lower 50% is fairly clear, but what I would have REALLY appreciated is seeing a historical graph of normalized wealth since, say, 1900 or so...
because I have a feeling that there will be sharp inflections around both 1919 (the start of prohibition) and 1987-1989... and as both were followed by big economic crashes, THAT would be very interesting to address.

As an initial matter, there was a United Nations report on the Venezuela sanctions, which bluntly stated that the "economic sanctions kill" Venezuelans. The full report itself is very readable. web.archive.org/web/2019013020…
So let's look at some of the sanctions that were imposed in August 2017. Section 1 over here makes it illegal for the government of Venezuela to raise any kind of money, through the sale of bonds or securities. It also makes it illegal for Venezuelan companies to remit profits.

One of the things that kind of creeps me out about the Left is this weird blend of pop science fetishism with a weird sort of disdain for rationalism. Like, y’all fucking love science but you hate it when scientists tell you shit you want to believe in is nonsense.
Science isn’t an organization or an institution. (That would be Big Science, which is also a Laurie Anderson record.) Science is merely a process for investigating the world and drawing conclusions. A method, if you like. A, uh, scientific method.
And that method tells us that, for example, it’s extremely unlikely that any major religions make valid claims about how the universe was created or how it works. Y’all start to get touchy about that.

One of the main goals of the end cash bail movement is to highlight that people should NOT be incarcerated in the first place. And to highlight how people are profiting off of individuals being in cages.
Question why people are being incarcerated in the first place before assuming that everyone who is currently incarcerated deserves to be in a cage.
Start questioning criminality. If you believe that crime and punishment are related in this country then you must believer that poor people and people of color are inherently criminal vs. are positioned as criminals by the state.
