Mark Field has finally been suspended from his government position but not from the Conservative Party. If his behaviour makes him unfit to be a Minister, how is he fit to be a Tory MP? He should be immediately suspended from his Party & the Whip pending disciplinary process. 1/5
The Tory MPs defending him should be utterly ashamed: Peter Bottomley, Johnny Mercer, Crispin Blunt, Nadine Dorries & Vicky Ford. Condoning his actions legitimises & normalises violence against women. Mercer said we should "calm down" & Blunt said Field should be "commended". 2/5
I used to be a Special Constable. This appears to me to be assault and he should be investigated by the police. The protesters declared they were peaceful and the full length video makes it clear she was not a threat. 3/5
This is about violence against women. He is a serving member of Parliament and even if assault cannot be proven this naked aggression sends a chilling message about what is acceptable. 4/4
Jeremy Hunt, who is Mark Field’s boss, has refused to condemn him and Boris Johnson remains silent. We deserve to know what the candidates to be our next Prime Minister think about the actions of this government Minister. 5/5
