I am more than confident to state that none of our SOEs pass the test of Fit for Purpose and they also fail to maintain the discipline it requires. Most lack: 1. Rationalè behind their stated purpose and strategic intent under the democratic era.
2. They lack appropriate structures and governance frameworks 3. Their Boards are Not independent; Not properly mandated and appointed in a transparent process as contemplated in the Companies Act No 71 of 2008. They also lack a mix of requisite skills.
Oversight ministers have frequently overridden mandates of Boards on performance oversight and strategic issues. They behave as if their wisdom as individuals exceeds the cumulative wisdom of all the "independent" members. This conduct is disrespectful.
You all heard Siza Mzimela recounting how a foreign Indian airline executive directed her, as CEO of SAA, right in front of Gigaba to abandon the India route. This is supposed to be an SoE under an independent board!!! Good Heavens. What's happened to us?
A statement has been made that government officials work very hard to monitor performance of SOEs. With due respect that is the specified role and mandate of a properly constituted Board.

I plead for your honest perception on the following dilemma.
1. Communities in downtown Jhg have complained and pleaded for help in the face of rampant illegal conduct by a very large number of illegal immigrants in their areas
2. They have and continue to allege that these illegals have hijacked buildings in which nefarious practices are hatched. Drugs are sold freely to their young and loved children. Households are being broken. Certain streets are no-go areas.
3. They claim normal life as a community is just a dream. Law and order is totally broken.

@Eusebius @Radio702 The type of unemployment challenge we have in my humble view requires a broad strategic approach than the current exclusive high skills trajectory. It must have the following elements:
1. Acceptance that unemployed workforce is uneducated
2. Majority don't have school leaving certificate and are female
3. We don't have a specific labour intensive employment strategy
4. Factories create mass employment. We need more in rationally targeted areas.
5. Reality is that they will be low cost
6. Government must adopt a targeted wage subsidy policy and strategy.
7. We need a revolution in agrarian reform to energize small scale farming and food production in rural areas.
8. Attic Colleges and research stations and universities must be involved

Thabo Mbeki says he could not ask people to vote ANC because as they veered off the line, they continued to claim they have a good story to tell. He could not support the lies. He now believes their renewal commitment is genuine.
And yet the ANC is still fielding the miscreants in their party list that offended him in the 1st place. They are many and going to Parly. Something doesn't add up!! Cyril is a good well intentioned person. But he leads a party he has limited power to change.
He is working with a team he cannot trust led by a gangster state leader as SG. The only viable option is a constructive implosion and a rebirth of a party grounded on high moral and ethical leadership. This is mandatory.

More than just the state of being unable to afford the basic necessities, poverty also entails a lack of structure.

When you think of rich neighborhoods, what makes them stand out is not just that the people who live there have money. It is that things work there.

A thread.
There's good security, clean water, good schools, clean streets and so on.

As opposed to a poor neighbourhood which would be distinctly marked by the absence of these things.
To focus on the issue of hygiene, It is not that rich people are inherently neater, it is that they can afford to be neat and there is a system that structures their cleanliness.

Being an early participant in the start of a thing is frustrating and rewarding at the same time. The experience that comes is humbling. I had the privilege of helping craft the pipeline for the people that followed me. I learned a couple things. Here's those things.
Brilliance in the basics still applied. There was a lot of pressure to get certificates, which would authorized the accesses we needed to do some of the activities we needed to do. One week and two week boot camps prior to actually learning the basics were not helpful.
Initially, people were being sent to what I consider more advanced trainings which may in fact allow them to pass a test and get a certificate that officially means they can work, but the actual end product was not what we wanted. We needed people would actually do work.

I’m certain we have read that “the person who masters him/herself through self control and discipline is truly undefeatable.” But What then is discipline in simple terms without expending grammar at this time of the night? 🤔
To simply deconstruct from the litany of definitions, it is simply described as ‘self imposed standards for the sake of a higher/greater goal.’ This is why ALL leaders are meant to have self discipline essentially as against other kinds of (external) discipline.

Ok, I want to build a simple product this week and launch it. I am thinking of a bot that pushes a commit to a stupid repository on GitHub everyday in order to make it green in the span of a year.
I have to find out first if it is possible to create through official APIs and whatnot. Let's see...
Ok so I had a look, it can be done. You can create a repo and create a commit programmatically through the official API. So far so good.

Three commonly held but untrue views seem to nicely summarize this "report":
1. Selling your goods below cost is a success strategy
2. Being "big" means you cannot be disrupted
3. Government wants to save us from "market power"
#1 only produces a return if one can then raise prices and still sell big volumes *and* no one else can enter the market. How can firms "protect" their staked-out market space? Without government privilege there's only one way: by offering goods of higher quality at lower prices.
So to be successful, either the firm produces better goods or they're more efficient (lower cost). Neither is much of a problem for consumers. And if they charge prices above what consumers think it's worth, both the good itself and the purchasing power of their money, they fail.
