I would like to see links to your favorite small nonprofit. The sort that benefits from small donations.

Bonus point if its run by someone from the relevant group. Bonus points if they're intersectional (i.e. support black/trans or disabled/autistic etc.)

The other day I was sitting next to a group of three WOC. All three had different amazing natural hair. For a moment I thought, "I should tell them." Then I thought, "They are out, having fun with each other, and their hair is not FOR me."

We can keep our opinions, fellow guys.
I share this, not in search of "cookies" but because I regularly see guys lament "But hoooow am I supposed to tell a girl I think she's hot in the modern age?"

Sometimes, the answer is... don't. Fellow cis-white men, we do not need to inject our opinions into everything.
I'll say it again.

We. Do. Not. Need. To. Inject. Our. Opinions. Into. Everything. And. Everywhere.

There are things and places in the world that are not about our gaze, our opinions, our thoughts.

Hello again! Friendly neighborhood molecular endocrinologist here. With the news, a couple people have asked me about birth control lately. So, a whirlwind explantion of oral contraceptives for those with uteri.

TLDR Version: "The pill" prevents ovulation

The two critical hormones here are progesterone and estradiol. Unspurprisingly, these are the constituents of oral birth control pills.

Without intervention, estradiol and progesterone drop and start menstruation. This signals the body that there's no fertilized egg. So, you shed the endometrium, the lining of the uterus that a fertilized egg would implant in.

More butterfly! Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) visiting my chives (one of the reasons I planted it, besides wanting to eat it myself). Sorry I couldn't get a good photo of the underside.

Now off to the doc to see if something can be done about this stupid thing in my hand!
Their favorite host (plants to lay eggs on) plants are thistle, hollyhock, mallow, and some legumes (peas, beans, vetches).
EDIT: American Lady, not painted (very very similar, but not quite. Thanks to @lepidopterlst for catching the error. For those who want to know the differences, a handy link!

Group X has been historically oppressed and marginalized by some folks from group A. Horrible things have been done to them. They resist however they can, but lacking real leadership, they respond by unleashing floodgates of their hatred upon everyone associated with group A.
Group X ends up allying with anyone willing to visit pain or vengeance upon group A. They end up cheering every time group A is hurt. A dictator? A terrorist? A foreign invasion? An earthquake? They deserve it. And so group X ends up stuck in a spiral of hate and vengeance.
But then, hate and vengeance are self-perpetuating, so this ends up producing enough hatred and counter-hatred to turn group A decidedly in the same direction. This has real world effects - violence, segregation, trauma.

Points and grades are an arms race, man. Ask Ss what they are doing in other classes you'll get a litany of due dates, high-stakes assessments, worksheets, and point values. Who has time for slow, low-stakes learning when points are on the line?
Whether we believe it or are aware of it or not, Ss internalize the value of school experiences based on how adults communicate value, and we communicate value primarily through the language of points, scores, grades, grading, etc.
So guess what Ss focus on? They play the game. They budget their time and their life around the things that are the most imminent threat to their grade and the highest "value" to the adult who assigned the work.

see, the beauty of saikuma is just how utterly TRAGIC they are. its textbook star-crossed lovers. both were designed to perform according to a script written by a higher power who pits them against each other. the narrative of “danganronpa” that theyre forced into means saihara
can only see monokuma as an enemy. anything else would be a betrayal to his promise to kaede. by establishing kaede as someone that saihara latches onto and even idealizes post-death, tsumugi has set it up so that saihara will never be able to get close to monokuma.
in contrast, monokuma is written to be a figurehead for the mastermind. he has been designed to push and prod the characters into killing each other. to him, saiharas just a toy to manipulate. how ironic- a toy playing with a toy. but it didnt have to be like this.
