More butterfly! Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) visiting my chives (one of the reasons I planted it, besides wanting to eat it myself). Sorry I couldn't get a good photo of the underside.

Now off to the doc to see if something can be done about this stupid thing in my hand!
Their favorite host (plants to lay eggs on) plants are thistle, hollyhock, mallow, and some legumes (peas, beans, vetches).
EDIT: American Lady, not painted (very very similar, but not quite. Thanks to @lepidopterlst for catching the error. For those who want to know the differences, a handy link!
