More butterfly! Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) visiting my chives (one of the reasons I planted it, besides wanting to eat it myself). Sorry I couldn't get a good photo of the underside.

Now off to the doc to see if something can be done about this stupid thing in my hand!
Their favorite host (plants to lay eggs on) plants are thistle, hollyhock, mallow, and some legumes (peas, beans, vetches).
EDIT: American Lady, not painted (very very similar, but not quite. Thanks to @lepidopterlst for catching the error. For those who want to know the differences, a handy link!

Hello again! Friendly neighborhood molecular endocrinologist here. With the news, a couple people have asked me about birth control lately. So, a whirlwind explantion of oral contraceptives for those with uteri.

TLDR Version: "The pill" prevents ovulation

The two critical hormones here are progesterone and estradiol. Unspurprisingly, these are the constituents of oral birth control pills.

Without intervention, estradiol and progesterone drop and start menstruation. This signals the body that there's no fertilized egg. So, you shed the endometrium, the lining of the uterus that a fertilized egg would implant in.

And then we have this. Where miscarriage could be punished with 30 years in prison. Instantly Georgia will literally be committing acts against the Geneva Conventions (punishing one for the crimes of another). Women are made into agency-less incubators.

By the time women knew they were pregnant, it would be too late to do anything about it.

Note that while making sex an act that could put a woman in jail for thirty years if things go poorly... there's nothing affecting men here.
If a woman's period is a week or two late (most women's earliest indication of pregnancy and the first point test strips are reliable), she's likely already at 5-6 weeks pregnant.

This bill apparently requires "re-implantation" of ectopic pregnancies.

This... is not an actual thing that can be done. Despite ancient Greek beliefs, women are not clay pots. Fetuses are not plants that can be transplanted at will.

I think the first thing we have to cover today is that not everything you want to say about your story is going to fit or belongs in your pitch. Many things you think are critical to "understand" the story don't have to come into the pitch.
And this reveals the point of the pitch - not to understand the story (that's what reading the manuscript is for), but to become interesting in it, so that the pitch-audience says "I want more information, I will go check out this manuscript."

I’m certain we have read that “the person who masters him/herself through self control and discipline is truly undefeatable.” But What then is discipline in simple terms without expending grammar at this time of the night? 🤔
To simply deconstruct from the litany of definitions, it is simply described as ‘self imposed standards for the sake of a higher/greater goal.’ This is why ALL leaders are meant to have self discipline essentially as against other kinds of (external) discipline.

Now we're getting there, Vote Leave called them Advanced Skills Initiative Ltd - ASI Data Science, essentially Top Gun for PhD scientists, submitted four invoices totalling £114,881 for 'data & polling analysis' but Vote Leave submitted £72,081 for advertising & market research!
And here they are, was the data analysis used during the campaign? If so, why apply a multiplier to the totals?
ASI run a prestigious fellowship, many of its fellows went on to work for a little company run by an Alexander Nix 😉 Here they are explains what they do, interesting that they use a platform called 'Sherlock' 😄

I feel like driving up some controversy, so how about a thread of Hot Takes/Unpopular Opinions! You know the drill, one like = one take/opinion.

Start easy: the blunt awkwardness/cringe of 'Blurryface' is the point of taking the piss out of Tyler. I stand by my light 9/10.
2. I don't hate Nickelback's 'Dark Horse' - it's easily a record for them at their most tasteless, but the frat-bro swagger of it helps some of their better hooks.
3. 'Fireflies' by Owl City is a genuinely terrific song that captures precocious, starry-eyed wonderment better than few others in the 2000s.

It is SPECTACULARLY lame, but that's why it works.
