A few pics from yesterday’s day trip to Raleigh.
The NC General Assembly Legislative Building, home of the NCGOP’s gerrymandering magic.
The North Carolina Museum of History (left) was worth the trip. Its display documenting the state’s history of racism should make any visitor uncomfortable.
My daughter was shocked to learn that at least one man was lynched in Onslow County, and I explained to her that the Daughters of the Confederacy is the group who planted the confederate memorial in front of our courthouse.

I also mentioned that no one’s trying to remove it.
Trainspotting in Warsaw.
My kind of interstate traffic. A good day trip. (End)
For sixty years, those conducting business in the Onslow County Court House were greeted by this memorial to “the men who wore the grey”—and by the words “Equal and Exact Justice to All.” Records show that it was dedicated in 1957.

The year 1957 is significant. Apparently, many confederate memorials began popping up all over the South during the early years of the civil rights movement.
