Last tweet of my morning break: I look (and usually am) very, very systematic with my organization and being orderly. But sometimes, I just see something interesting, and I go like "oh hey I may want to read this at some point in my life" or "this would be useful to X person"
I frequently download PDFs to my main Dropbox folder, which then becomes messy. So, every few weeks, I peek into this folder (and another one that I called "Por Ordenar" - to be ordered, in Spanish) and move PDFs to relevant folders (e.g. "Framing Theory", "Research Methods")
You may have read my "from PDF to memorandum protocol" and my rule: "if you touch a PDF, you should process it". I do apply both when I am in the organization process and download a new piece that is key for my current work (e.g. this @ColinMcFarlane3 one onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.11…)
My "PDF to memo" protocol is here raulpacheco.org/2016/12/proces… given that I have a metric ton of stuff to write, I can't dig into Colin's paper as soon as I'd like to. So I'm going to do a quick AIC read/CSED row entry raulpacheco.org/2017/12/carvin… knowing that I'll come back to this later.
To avoid adding disorganization to my folders, I know that I'll save Colin's paper in my "Sanitation" folder. I have Mendeley programmed to "Watch This Folder" so it automagically uploads the reference. Thus a quick AIC/CSED can take me less than 30 minutes, potentially. </fin>
