1/ The judgment in last week's "Tommy Robinson" case is now published: judiciary.uk/wp-content/upl…
A couple of points.
2 The judges find "Tommy's" account of events highly implausible. Reminder: he has previously been convicted for fraud.
3 Defence lawyers attempted to use the "Robinson" broadcast to get the jury discharged. His behaviour could have scuppered the trial. So much for his purported claim to be doing this for the victims.
4 I pointed out last week that contempt of court is subject to strict liability, by reference to a journalist's tweet. A "Tommy" fan claimed this was "confirmation bias" on my part.

Here the judges point to the strict liability rule in both statute *and* common law. //
