It appears three Cuban nationals who were being imprisoned outside the El Paso PDN Border Patrol station that was the subject of an OIG management alert slit their wrists using the fencing of the station on THE EXACT SAME DAY OIG, ICE, and CBP were having a call about conditions.
A reminder of what these three Cuban men would have seen and experienced in the days, possibly weeks, before they attempted to harm themselves . . .

If the Border Patrol were any other law enforcement agency in the country, instead of just the country’s largest law enforcement agency, DOJ Civil Rights would have had them under a consent decree YEARS AGO.

“The system is broken” - ICE official responsible for management humanitarian crisis on the border.

“You broke it.” - Literally any rational observer.
Finger-pointing their way through misery and destruction . . .

“Releasing people on O[rders of] R[ecognizance] is not in B[order] P[atrol]’s culture but they have the authority.”

When did this “culture” emerge? Pre-2017, ORs were a normal part of the regular encounter w BP.
ICE, at least, considers fire codes an upward limit on the # of people it can detain.

Good morning! Today the House Oversight Committee will hold a hearing on "The Trump Administration’s Child Separation Policy: Substantiated Allegations of Mistreatment." I'll be livetweeting parts of the hearing (from 10AM-12PM).

Today's hearing is broken into two panels. Up first will be four members of Congress themselves testifying about what they witnessed firsthand at the border on a recent trip: Representatives @AOC, @RepEscobar, @RashidaTlaib, and @AyannaPressley.
The second panel includes both government and non-government witnesses. Members will hear from Jennifer Costello, Acting DHS Inspector General, Ann Maxwell, Assistant IG for HHS, Columbia Law's Elora Mukherjee, @youngcenter's Jennifer Nagda, and former ICE Director Thomas Homan.

Not a good look for next House hearing on climate change and disasters that furthers inaccurate information (spreads lies) from Union of Concerned Scientists on hurricanes.

This is not in accord with current science or consensus anywhere = fraud.

Global Category 4s and 5s have not doubled and several papers discuss why e.g. detection, incorrect analysis.

This is spelled out in detail at NOAA GFDL website, IPCC reports (my research cited) and if you ask any other reputable tropical scientist.

It is problematic that House Democrats would base a hearing on disasters & climate change on inaccurate info.

This suggests a deficiency in committee staff or, more likely, farming out research to activist groups.
