So essentially from this thread the pitch of the Alternative Arrangements Commission is to admit that technology cannot in fact prevent cross-border trade checks, but there are ways to minimise these especially if there is SPS and regulatory alignment
Those who have been advocating the UK remaining in the EEA because they did the research and realised border checks were mostly abolished because of the single market will be feeling to an extent vindicated. But of course EEA is not allowed to be the answer
As I've said before, the AAC is half a step forward in some Brexiteers understanding of what makes a border, and actually undermines those who say technology is the answer. But the political contortions to get even that far make it mostly useless in offering solutions
